Genre

-          A text is classified in a genre through the identification of key elements or paradigms which occur in that text and in others of the same genre.
-          Paradigms are grouped into:
Iconography: the main signs and symbols that you see/hear
Structure: the way a text is put together and the shape it takes.
Theme: the issues and ideas it deals with.
Narrative: similar plots and structures, predictable, situations, sequences, obstacles, conflicts and resolutions  
Identity: similar types of characters, roles, personal, qualities, behaviour.
Setting: geographical and historical.
